The mascot is supposedly based on a real boy who had once existed pre-apocalypse. His age is unknown. The boy was an apprentice baker at a local bakery in town and touted his pastries on the streets alongside his dog. After the nuclear incident, officials scoured the city with no one to be found except (p)ORICHAN, who had been found hiding underneath rubble.
He was taken by the government as testament that the city was still safe despite the destruction, and began to use his image, plastering him on billboards and advertisements in attempts to promote continued business and tourism as they rebuilded the city. It is said that not too long after the boy was diagnosed with various illnesses. All treatments proved to be unsuccessful, and with no family nor legal guardians looking after his wellbeing he mysteriously disappeared from media for a while.
Despite the illnesses, after a period (p)ORICHAN reappeared into media with a healthy appearance, but with a visibly different look and slight rebranding.
It is rumoured that the boy who originally portrayed (p)ORICHAN is not the same boy who portrays him today. Some theories are that he was replaced by an actor, or that his sequences of movements and voice audio were extracted and inputted into AI to continue using him for his likeness.
